COGNITIVE BEHAVIORAL THERAPY

Dr. Rosen is an expert therapist who uses cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) for the treatment of anxiety and depression. Cognitive behavioral therapy focuses on how our thoughts and behaviors influence the way that we feel. By changing dysfunctional thoughts and behaviors, we can improve our mood. CBT is an evidence based therapy effective for the treatment of anxiety and depression in children, teens and adults. Many patients value the focus on learning skills that can be applied outside of therapy.  Treatment with CBT can be relatively short term, lasting for a few weeks to a few months, depending on the specifics of your condition.

CBT for depression targets the negative thinking that can worsen depression symptoms. You will learn to identify and challenge unhelpful thinking styles. You will also learn behavioral strategies to improve mood. You will learn valuable life long skills that will give you mastery over your mood.

CBT for anxiety targets distorted thoughts that can trigger and worsen anxiety. A key component is exposure and response prevention (ERP). Together with your therapist, you will gradually confront the triggers for your anxiety and learn to tolerate them. Dr. Rosen offers CBT for generalized anxiety, panic attacks, obsessive-compulsive disorder, selective mutism and social anxiety.
